What is Kinzoo?
Kinzoo is a secure messaging app that turns screen time into family time. With Kinzoo, you can exchange text messages, videos, pictures and audio with family and close friends—and the best part is that kids 6+ can get in on the fun and send one-on-one or group messages to loved ones, too!
How do I create a Kinzoo profile for my kids?
Kinzoo is available for free in the app store, but only adults can create accounts. To keep kids safe, kid profiles must be created by a parent.
After you create your own account, you'll be automatically prompted to add a profile for your kid. Or, if you want to add a kid profile at a later date, tap the big purple plus sign on your chat screen, and then tap "add a kid or co-parent."
Do I need a separate parent account for each of my kids?
Nope! You only need one parent account for all your kid profiles. Just remember, you can only create kid profiles if you're a parent or legal guardian to the child in question.
What are the different types of accounts and profiles on Kinzoo?
There are two kinds of adult accounts and one kid profile on Kinzoo:
All accounts and profiles can exchange text messages, videos, pictures and audio with anyone in their contact list. But for extra safety, only adult accounts can send, receive and approve contact requests.
How do I change my PIN?
You can reset your PIN any time. Go to your account settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right corner of your app. Select your profile and tap "PIN" to update your PIN.

No problem! When you're prompted to enter your PIN in the "Switch Profile" screen, simply click "Forgot PIN" in the lower left corner and we'll send you an email with instructions for resetting your PIN. Make sure you check the email account you signed up with—and if you don't see a message from us, check your spam folder.

What can and can't kids do on the Kinzoo app?
Why can't I embed links or content in my Kinzoo chats?
Because we're a secure platform for kids, Kinzoo complies with The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)—which is considered the most stringent legislation for children's safety online. Under these rules, it's not possible to embed content or links from outside of the app. You can still copy and paste a URL into your chats, but unlike some other messaging platforms, they won't be clickable hyperlinks or show previews.
How do kids find and add friends on Kinzoo?
Kids can't send, receive or approve invitations, and all new contacts need to be approved by a parent. Parents can send invitations on behalf of their kids, or connect them with a new contact by entering their unique magic code. Once connected, kids can exchange text messages, videos, pictures or audio with anyone in their contact list.
Can a stranger talk to my kid?
No. Kinzoo takes kid safety seriously, so parents must approve all their kid's contact invitations. To make things extra safe, connections must be approved on both ends before anyone can exchange messages.
How do I see who my kid is connected to?
All your kid's connections need to be approved by you (or a co-parent if you have one), but you can check on your kid's connections at any time. Go to your account settings screen by tapping the gear icon in the top right corner of your app. Under "Other family & friends," you'll see a complete list of contacts that are connected to you and your kid(s). Simply select any contact to see who from your household is connected.

Can I remove someone from my kid’s contact?
Yes. You can review your kid's contacts in your account settings by tapping the gear icon in the top right corner of your app. Under "Other family & friends," select a contact, and you'll see who they are connected to in your household. To remove them from your kid's contacts, tap the "Manage" button next to your kid's avatar and select "Remove contact." The contact won't be notified and neither will your kid.
Who can send and receive invitations?
Only adults can send, receive and approve invitations, but parents can send, receive and approve invitations on behalf of their kids.
How do invitations work?
To invite new contacts, tap the big purple plus sign on your chat screen. Outgoing invitations can be shared via email or text message. We take kid safety seriously, so once your contact confirms your invitation, you'll be asked for one final approval.

To enter someone's magic code, tap the big purple plus sign on your chat screen. Then tap "Enter their magic code" and type their code into the field, and you'll be ready to connect with them. Can I use bad or rude words on Kinzoo?
Kinzoo is a kid-safe messenger, so we try to filter out bad or rude words. If you see something inappropriate in your messages or in your kid's messages, you always have the option to report content, which automatically hides it from your thread.
We know that every family is different—and a word that's okay for one person might be offensive to someone else. We're always trying to improve, so if you have any suggestions for us, we'd love to hear from you!
Are there advertisements on the Kinzoo app?
No. There are no in-app advertisements on Kinzoo.
What safety standards does Kinzoo comply with?
Kinzoo complies with The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which is considered the most stringent legislation for children's safety online. To learn more about COPPA—and why we built a kid-safe messaging app, visit Our Product Page.
Does Kinzoo collect personal data?
Why does Kinzoo ask for my child’s birth month and year?
Understanding the ages of kids on our platform will help us make Kinzoo a better, safer space. In the future, Kinzoo may create new age-appropriate features. We never share or sell personally identifiable information.
How do I report inappropriate content?
If you see content you don't think is appropriate, you can report it. Simply tap the message, photo, video or audio and select "Report message." After you report a message, it will be hidden from your conversation thread, so you might want to take a screen shot of it beforehand. If you report a message while in drop-in mode, it will be hidden from your kid's conversation thread. We won't hide the message from your contact though, so they won't be alerted to the report in their conversation thread.
How do I report a user?
To keep Kinzoo safe, you can report users who you feel are inappropriate. Simply tap the user's avatar, and select "Report user." Reporting a user won't immediately remove them from your contacts, so if don't want to be connected any longer, you'll also need to remove them as a contact.
Can my kid report messages and users?
Yes. Kinzoo empowers kids to report any content or users as well. If they see a message that's inappropriate, they can tap on it, and select "Report message" or "Report user." Reporting a message removes it from the conversation thread, but reporting a user does not immediately remove them as a contact.
Will Kinzoo tell my contact it was me who reported them?
We never tell users who reported them.
